Deadly Dangers of Aspartame Brand Name Nutrasweet/Equal

In this modern world, almost everybody is trying to obtain better health. Unfortunately for a large majority of us, we attribute the quality of our health to the size of our waistlines. This isn't uncommon. And if that's the case, falling for one of the many calorie restricting diets available today isn't uncommon either. One of the the most popular is the use of Zero calorie sweeteners. If you are attempting to limit the amount of calories you take in daily, these zero Cal sweeteners may seem as if they're sent from above. Sadly, the truth is quite the contrary.

What many don't realize about these zero calorie sweeteners is that your trading out one evil for another that happens to be much more atrocious. Sure it may be appealing if you've bought into the deceitful falsity that is the calorie restriction theory. But we must learn to re-examine the things we have heard throughout our lives. In this case, the whole pyramid of truths in which this theory was born. And if you do you will discover that these "truths" were created by people with something to gain. Best left for another article.

As far as these sweeteners go, one stands out above the rest. Both in popularity and danger. Aspartame. The most popular artificial sweetener on the market. This chemical is 200 times sweeter than sugar. It was released to the public by the Monsanto Company in 1981 (briskly followed by a very large increase in brain diseases I might add). Aspartame goes by the labels NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, and Equal-Measure.

To understand why this chemical is so dangerous you must look further into it's chemical makeup. Aspartame is composed of 40% Aspartic Acid, 50% Phenylalanine and 10% Methanol. It is broken down into these chemical constituents when it is exposed to temperatures 86 degrees or higher. In this process the deadly chemical known as Formaldehyde is created within the body. Bare in mind the temperature of the human stomach is, at average 98.6 degrees.

Aspartic Acid and Phenylaline are both what is known as Excitotoxins. Meaning that they literally Excite the neurons within the brain to death. Leading to death of brain cells (brain damage) and nerve damage as well as many other forms of major cellular deterioration. Especially when used in large amounts or during pregnancy. Methanol on the other hand is more widely known by the general public. The ingestion of even small amounts of this highly dangerous chemical toxin can lead to coma, convulsions, blindness, and even death. While Formaldehyde, the chemical created as a result of Aspartames ingestion is a widely known potent carcinogenic substance among other things.

Aspartame is by far one of the most dangerous food additives on the market today. Accounting for over 75% of the adverse food additive reactions reported. Headaches and migraines, dizziness, seizures, nausea, numbness, muscle spasms, weight gain, rashes, depression, fatigue, irritability, tachycardia, insomnia, vision loss, hearing loss, heart palpitations, breathing difficulties, mental disorders, slurred speeking, loss of ability to taste, tinnitus, vertigo, loss of memory, and light to sever joint pain. All of these are commonly reported health problems associated with used of Aspartame.

It isn't hard to see how this artificial sweetener used in over 6000 products worldwide, which is composed of three deadly chemicals such as the above and which leads to the creation of a fourth could be the cause of such extreme health deterioration. A small warning. These health issues may at first show themselves as very minor such as headaches or blurry vision. Most people may turn their heads at these at first. But this will almost certainly change very quickly for the worste if it's use is not discontinued immediately.

Next time you reach for that zero calorie sweetener thinking you are doing your health and your waistline a favor. Go ahead, Pick it up, and throw it in the garbage. This is where this poison belongs. Not in our food. If you want a healthy alternative to sugar that won't lead to the deterioration of your health there are many. Stevie and honey are two I personally use on a daily basis. These two have been shown to provide many positive benefits with extremely infrequent or zero side effects. On an end note... I hope you will take this very seriously. The health of our beautiful bodies is invaluable. We should not allow these companies the power to make a dollar off of the death of our brothers and sisters. There are many dangerous chemicals in a large majority of the food available today, and everyone should be informed as to what they are putting in their bodies on a daily basis. Knowledge is power.

I think it is dangerous also! I try to use stevia most of the time or truvia. As a type 1 diabetic sugar is not an options so I think stevia is the next best thing. Thanks for sharing this!

Thank you! The more people who are aware of these dangers the better. Get the word out there and we'll all benefit. Also, I'm glad to see you found a sweet alternative that works! I know I wouldn't be able to live without the sweet taste of stevia or honey in my tea. If only everyone knew it was that easy :)

I am definitely on your side about aspartame. But I have to question you about phenylalanine. It's a non-essential amino acid that our bodies actually produce, so I don't see how it could be a neurotoxin. What i read is that some people have a problem metabolizing it (PKU), and in that case, additional Phe in the diet can cause problems.

Of course the rest of the byproducts of Aspartame digestion are enough to keep me away.

I used to drink those single powder packets in my bottled water when I worked in an office and started getting terrible headaches halfway through the day. Eventually traced it back to the Aspartame. Gross!

The problem with singled out amino acids is that they must be ingested in their ratios/forms only found in nature or they will cause harm to the body. Just as sugar is technically from natural sources but it is processed into a pure substance not found in nature. As for the powder packets I did that for a very long time as well! Crystal light used to be my favorite.
